The ups and downs of chocolate production as the seasons change.
The Calm Before the Storm
October starts off very busy, the weather starts cooling down and people start stocking up on chocolate for winter. Chocolate is hard to ship in the summer, you have to insulate the box and put ice packs in the box. This leads to more weight and higher shipping rates. When leafs start changing the chocolate starts flying off the shelves. The factory is full of energy. Usually after a few weeks of this we hit a slow week; everyone takes a deep breath and starts to catch up on projects that were forgotten during the rush. The chaos is contained.
Rumors of big orders start to float threw the factory and excitement starts to build but as the days turn to weeks people start to wonder if that big order is going to come or if the troubled economy is going to effect our business. Now people start getting grumpy is there going to be enough work for next week? How about the week after? I call it the calm before the storm, I’m sure as soon as one big order comes in two or three big orders will follow. If not we better hope that the Broncos keep winning so people will keep buying the Bronco Bars.
